Why join ALFAn?

Joining ALFAn means becoming part of an academic community committed to the promotion and development of philosophy in Latin America. It also means contributing in a tangible way to strengthening a network of philosophical exchange and collaboration that seeks to integrate all countries in the region, particularly those where access to international philosophical networks is limited.

Paying membership fees is essential to maintaining ALFAn’s institutional infrastructure—infrastructure that allows the organization of conferences, seminars, and various international academic activities. Although in some countries with consolidated philosophical networks, ALFAn membership may seem unnecessary, contributing to membership and paying fees allows the activities and opportunities offered by ALFAn to reach communities where these networks are still under construction.

ALFAn offers a unique platform for the dissemination of research and collaboration between philosophy teachers and students from different social, academic, and political contexts. This facilitates a dynamic exchange of ideas that fosters new perspectives and encourages innovative research that might otherwise not have the visibility it deserves in our community. Contributing to the strengthening of ALFAn is contributing to the creation of a more equitable academic environment, improving the quality and diversity of philosophical dialogue in Latin America.

In short, ALFAn membership contributes to strengthening Latin American philosophical dialogue: it provides academic resources and promotes meetings that especially enrich the philosophical communities of our region with fewer opportunities. It is a concrete commitment to the collective development of our philosophy.
